Foster Care Family Specialist



This is a professional position in the field of social services, which includes working with children and adults in the foster care system. The Family Specialist monitors foster homes for compliance with state regulations, provides supports to children and adults placed in the homes, and ensures foster families are properly selected and trained.



Essential requirements include:



-Experience working with families and children; in particular children with a history of abuse and/or neglect



-Knowledge of AZ state system for child based services (CPS and DDD)



-Ability to support a family through a crisis situation



-Skilled in interviewing/evaluating skills to evaluate potential foster families



-Ability to support children with special needs, developmental disabilities, medical conditions, abused and/or neglected children, or mental health disorders



-Vehicle and valid driver’s license required, mileage is reimbursed; must be able to obtain AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance card



-Education and experience in social services, child development, psychology, sociology, child welfare, or social work



-Bi-lingual English and Spanish encouraged but not required; Bachelor’s degree

preferred
