One of the largest software firms in Arizona, is looking for an experienced Manager of Software Project Management Organization to complement their existing team.
Outstanding direct hire career opportunity for a seasoned Manager of Software Project Mangement Organization who has lead a team of Software Project Managers.
DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for partnering with the Director of Software Development, Business Alignment Leaders, and Business Leaders to effectively implement projects that drive value for our client. The incumbent leads a team of skilled project managers delivering solutions for the company, ensuring that people, process & technology change delivers tactical and strategic value for the company.
•Establish and implement the project management vision for
•Facilitate project portfolio management, prioritization, and portfolio governance aligned with corporate strategies
•Provide strong project management leadership
•Recruit and develop project managers who can direct corporate projects in a matrix environment that require people, process & technology delivery
•Actively develop, mentor and coach people so that they have the competencies and skills to successfully complete projects
•Create and implement standardized project management practices and select and deploy project management tools when needed
•Provide enterprise visibility into project portfolio performance and enterprise resource management by developing summary and detail status and resource utilization reporting
•Establish standardized, visible, accurate project benchmarks and performance metrics to monitor project health and continuously improve project delivery
•Actively engage in ensuring the project portfolio is delivered on time, on budget, with required scope.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field required.
• Master’s Degree desired.
• 10+ years of experience in delivering large complex projects required.
• 5+ years experience in leading a Software Project Management Organization required consisting of at least 4-5 project managers.
• In depth and demonstrated expertise in delivering people, process & technology change required.
• Track record of developing and enforcing project management procedures and policies.
• Expert in requirements development methods and methodology.
• Expert in tracking and planning resources in a matrix environment.
• Expert in reporting project status to management.
• PMI Certified a plus.
• Strong experience in working in a Software Development environment.
